Hillside Engineering North of Sunset
Coldwater Canyon, Benedict Canyon, and the Trousdale streets were cut into real grade, much of it decades ago, and fill from that era is often poorly documented by current standards. A wall founded on or retaining that material behaves unpredictably, which is why geotechnical investigation is standard here rather than optional.
We design and build engineered retaining wall systems, reinforced masonry with stone or stucco finish, segmental walls with geogrid, and terraced arrangements that convert slope into usable level ground. Drainage is designed first: aggregate backfill, perforated collector, filter fabric, and a deliberate outlet. Permit height is measured from the bottom of the footing, so a wall that looks modest from the front frequently needs engineering.
