We build custom outdoor fire pits and outdoor fireplaces in Los Angeles, permanent masonry and steel installations designed as integral parts of your outdoor living space, not afterthoughts. Every project starts with a site visit: we assess your gas supply, seating arrangement, wind patterns, and existing hardscape before a single block is set.
Our fire feature scope runs from a freestanding gas fire pit with a clean stone enclosure to a full outdoor fireplace with natural stone surround, raised hearth, and built-in seating wall. We also build fire-and-water combinations, linear trough burners, and fire bowls, all permitted, gas-inspected, and built to last.

Gas & wood both
We build for gas burners, wood-burning fireboxes, and dual-fuel configurations, with proper air supply, spark arrest, and flue sizing for each.

Every fire feature is set on a reinforced concrete footing rated for thermal cycling and dead load, no settling, no cracking firebox floor after the first winter.

Fire bowls, trough burners, and linear flame elements integrated with water features, gas plumbing and recirculating water supply designed together, not retrofitted.

In-house gas work
Licensed gas work in-house, line sizing, pressure testing, and shut-off placement done to code, not farmed out to a plumber who has never seen the feature.
Fire pit design and outdoor fireplace construction both start the same way: the gas line. Before any masonry is set, we establish BTU requirements, spec the gas supply from your meter or an LPG tank, and design the structural base to carry the weight of stone, steel, or both. Gas fire pits typically run 60,000–100,000 BTU; outdoor fireplaces with gas logs run 40,000–60,000 BTU and require a proper firebox enclosure and flue.
The surround comes next, natural stone, concrete, board-formed plaster, or corten steel, each material chosen for heat tolerance, weather resistance, and how it reads against your existing hardscape. We size every enclosure to the feature: fire pits need a minimum 12″ wall for heat dissipation; fireplaces need a proper lintel, mantel clearance, and spark arrestor per LA County fire code.

Design & Gas Layout
We site the feature relative to seating, prevailing wind, and the nearest gas stub-out; BTU load and pipe sizing are calculated before any work begins.

Foundation & Framing
A reinforced concrete footing is poured to depth; the firebox or burner enclosure is framed in CMU or steel stud with firebrick lining where required.

Stone, Steel & Surround
The exterior finish is applied, natural stone, cast concrete, stucco, or corten panel, with expansion joints and weeps to handle heat movement and rain.

Gas Connection & Testing
Gas line is connected, pressure-tested, and the burner or log set is lit and tuned, leaving you with a feature you can light from a switch or your phone.

Gas fire pits & burners
- Round & square fire pits, Custom-sized masonry enclosures with drop-in gas burner rings; ignition by spark key, push-button valve, or smart controller. Enclosure materials: cast concrete block, natural stone, or board-formed plaster.
- Linear trough burners, Long rectangular burners set flush into a concrete or stone slab, dramatic wall-of-flame effect across a dining table or water feature. Common in contemporary LA outdoor kitchens.
- Fire bowls, Cast or fabricated steel bowls on pedestal bases, plumbed to a gas supply; matched to the surrounding hardscape material. Available in concrete, corten steel, or hammered copper.
- Fire & water combinations, Trough burners set above or adjacent to water features, fire reflects in the water, gas and pump supply run in the same electrical and plumbing chase.
Outdoor fireplaces
- Wood-burning fireplace, CMU firebox with full firebrick lining, steel lintel, raised hearth, and clay flue, built to residential code with spark arrestor and stainless cap. Requires LA County AQMD compliance (burn days apply).
- Gas fireplace, Sealed gas insert in a masonry surround with vented or ventless firebox; push-button or remote ignition; cleaner than wood and legal year-round in California under AQMD regulations.
- Double-sided (see-through), Fireplace built into an outdoor kitchen or covered patio wall, visible from both the dining area and living area, with a shared firebox and single gas connection.
- Fireplace with seating wall, Outdoor fireplace anchored by flanking seating walls in matching stone, creates an enclosed outdoor room and defines the social center of the backyard.
Stone & plaster surrounds
- Natural stone veneer, Stacked ledger stone, dry-stack ashlar, or set flagstone; mortared and pointed to match the surrounding hardscape palette. Common choices: Santa Barbara ledger, Bouquet Canyon, and Sierra White.
- Concrete & board-formed plaster, Board-formed concrete or smooth stucco for a cleaner, more contemporary surround, integral pigment or painted finish; pairs well with large-format concrete pavers.
- Corten steel panels, Weathering steel cladding for a warm, oxidized finish that ages into the landscape over the first season of exposure. Popular on modern hillside properties.
- Heat-rated tile, Porcelain or natural stone tile on the firebox face and raised hearth; matched to pool tile or outdoor kitchen countertop material for a unified design language.
Permits & gas work in Los Angeles
- LA County / City permits, Outdoor fireplaces and fixed gas fire features require a building permit in most LA County jurisdictions. We pull permits and coordinate with the inspector for gas line and structural sign-off.
- AQMD burn day rules, Wood-burning outdoor fireplaces are subject to AQMD Rule 445 no-burn days in the South Coast Air Basin. Gas fire features (natural gas or propane) have no burn-day restriction.
- Licensed gas installation, All gas work is performed by our in-house licensed contractors, line sizing, pressure testing, and CSA-approved shut-off placement done to California Plumbing Code.
- HOA coordination, Many LA communities require HOA architectural approval for permanent outdoor fireplaces. We provide plans, material samples, and project documentation for HOA submissions.
